Facebooktwitter

Do you have photos of APEX volunteers or projects that were important to you? How about a remembrance of a volunteer who may not have made it into an old newsletter, but was part of your journey? Maybe you have a story about a volunteer who has moved on, but you would like remembered? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Our Anniversary Party usually commemorates the previous year, and we will certainly do that, but with your help, we will also celebrate all our yesterdays, and the volunteers who made them happen.

There are several ways you can help:There are several ways you can help:

Did you know…About APEX Education?

Facebooktwitter

Did you know there are lots of educational programs at APEX, making up more than 200 events each year?

Monday’s: On Monday Nights (since 1997) we have some sort of Educational Event. Class, Demo, Lecture, Hands-On, Panel Discussion, Community Education, and even an occasional open house. Some of these are open to everyone over 18 because APEX feels as though Education is important for all parts of the Phoenix Community!  These educational events are generally facilitated by APEX Members, or an occasional out of town presenter. If you are interested in presenting please email: Mondays@ArizonaPowerExchange.org

E.D.G.E. Groups:  Extended Development, Growth, & Education (E.D.G.E.). An E.D.G.E. group is made up of APEX members who all share a common interest in learning, teaching, and developing skills. This is a peer-to-peer learning environment that facilitates practice and sharing knowledge in a particular area. There are currently 12 E.D.G.E. Groups at APEX: Safer Sex, Makers, Pets, Rope 101, Leather Care, Floggers, Impact Play, Drums, Bound to Tie, Medical Play, Presenting, and Photography.

E.D.G.E. Groups are open to all APEX members who would like to join. If you are interested in beginning an E.D.G.E. group, please e-mail Education@ArizonaPowerExchange.org

July 8th Party: Important Notice about Parking

Facebooktwitter

As you may have heard our parking lot is going to be resurfaced on July 8th, and we can’t drive on it until Sunday. So, the generous folks at the big white building to the South of us, have agreed to let us use their parking lot.

Walking on the pavement after 6 PM is allowed, and wheeled toy bags should be fine. We do have permission – for the night of July 8th only – to park around the building to the southeast of APEX (the area outlined in yellow on the map). Otherwise, you’ll need to park on the street (the purple shading).

If you are coming to the party and willing to help direct traffic that would be amazing! Email us at contact@arizonapowerexchange.org and we will put you on the schedule. There will be frozen treats for the volunteers who are out in the heat!

We will need help from 7:30pm-11pm when the doors close.

Drum Circle

Facebooktwitter

Typically, people gather to drum in drum “circles” with others from the surrounding community. The drum circle offers equality because there is no head or tail. It includes people of all ages. The main objective is to share rhythm and get in tune with each other and themselves. To form a group consciousness. To entrain and resonate. By entrainment, I mean that a new voice, a collective voice, emerges from the group as they drum together. -Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart

Drumming has been integral part of tribal culture. Drums provide the basic rhythm to most music. A drum circle brings community together through rhythm. Drum circles allow people to express themselves in a fun safe environment. Drumming increases concentration and focus, helps develop communication skills and encourages people to listen and dance. We will explore hand drumming techniques for drums such as the Djembe, Sabar etc. Learn how to play bass, open tone and slap notes. Bring your own drums. We will have a few drums available if you have never played. This will be hands-on… literally.

Join us on the 4th Saturday of each month at 6pm
