Education Committee

Notes

The APEX education chair is responsible for the management, logistics and support of all educational based activities of APEX.  The education chair is tasked with appointing coordinators as needed (Monday nights, Saturday workshops, etc), and supporting their team members as needed.  The chair is also tasked with ensuring that all areas of education are operating smoothly, and to make adjustments to procedures, activities, or events as needed.  Finally the education chair is responsible for the development and implementation of new educational opportunities and ideas for the benefit of the club and its members.

As an organization continues to grow and evolve to meet the challenges of social media, internet availability and member associated gatherings such as munches, it becomes important for an organization to establish a sense of connection and belonging for its membership.  This can be accomplished with the development of programs within the larger organization, essentially establishing small, intimate groups where ideas can be shared, discussed and learned from each participant.  These groups help new and old members establish a sense of intimacy and provide a sanctuary within the larger club, so that in party and event settings there remains a sense of belonging and a comfort in growing and expanding.

This Chair works with their Coordinators and marketing individuals to direct inquiries to the appropriate groups for new and old members expressing a desire to know more about a function, and will actively provide support to membership efforts with marketing of new support functions to new members. Each month the Chair will provide a written report of activities at the Executive Committee Meeting as well as plans for development, and should be able to provide a report of activities within the Education function regarding attendance and growth needs.

  • Read each week’s evaluations to maximize the Membership Experience (ignoring the comments about the chairs!).
  • Vet presenters for quality.
  • No Presenter will present at APEX more than four (4) times per year.
  • If the score of the presenter is below average or there were a large number of complaints, that presenter must be coached prior to them presenting at APEX again.
  • Work closely with the Monday Night Logistics Coordinator to make sure Presenters have the best possible experience at APEX.
  • The goal of the Monday Night Coordinator is to be booked at least three (3) months in the future.
  • The Monday Night Coordinator is responsible for reaching out to the Education Chair/Executive Committee when there are problems or challenges.
  • Send descriptions/bios to the Calendar Coordinator for publishing and proof this information upon completion.
  • Send the Presenter Logistics information to the Monday Night Logistics person.

These are always education and never demo. No sex, nudity, or play may take place if non members are in the house. There is some specific language that goes with something open to the community.

Pre-Party Workshops Education

Notes

APEX pre-Party workshops are hands-on events where you can learn from your peers, try new things, see how other people do it, and see how a particular fetish can integrate into a scene. Safety and supply tips will also be presented by your facilitator.

Interesting hands-On Education is essential to our Membership. Pre-Party workshops are a great way to get one-on-one instruction. This is an informal event where experts in a field are put together to answer questions and provide personal instruction. These events should be held from 6 or 6:30pm-8 prior to a party. They will be $6.00 (an educational event), or FREE with paid party entrance (and always free to our All Access Members).  The focus should be very specific. Not “Flogging”, but Florentine Flogging. Not “Violet Wands” but “Violet Wand etching”, not “Wax Play”, but pillar candles etc. It is a short time and meant to provide more intimate coaching, so very specific subjects are needed.

This Chair works with their Coordinators and marketing individuals to direct inquiries to the appropriate groups for new and old members expressing a desire to know more about a support function, and will actively provide support to membership efforts with marketing of new support functions to new members. Each month the Chair will provide a written report of activities at the Executive Committee Meeting as well as plans for development of future groups, and should be able to provide a report of activities within the SIGs regarding attendance and growth needs.
